After spending four months in a wheelchair, an injured cyclist has been awarded £105K in compensation. The man, who remains unnamed, had been cycling on a roundabout near Corfe Mullen when a car, which was driving too fast, clipped his wheel. The 48-year-old spent 10 days in hospital and the next four months in a wheelchair due to the severity of his personal injuries. A 31-year-old cyclist has been awarded injury compensation after a lorry knocked her off her bicycle on her way to work. Mary Bowers, who had been a successful journalist prior to the accident, now requires around-the-clock care and is only minimally conscious. With claims being made by the Central Government that councils are to blame for the country’s pothole problem, cyclists seem to be paying the price. Team Sky cycling boss Fran Miller (34) has received undisclosed compensation from a council after her bike hit a pothole, leaving her with multiple injuries. The accident occurred on Oldham’s high street in 2010 where she was thrown off her bike after swerving to avoid a pothole.
