A two-year-old girl has died and a woman has suffered serious injuries after the pair were discovered unconscious on a street in Bradford yesterday. West Yorkshire Police are urging people to come forward with any available information. The couple were found on Delamere Street behind a property on Tuesday morning. Both were in a critical condition and were taken immediately to hospital: the 2-year-old girl died shortly after reaching the hospital.
The woman, believed to be in her late thirties, is still in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries and remains in a critical condition. A post-mortem examination of the young girl is to be carried out later in the week, in an attempt to uncover what happened surrounding the incident. Police are not treating the accident as suspicious at present, and are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.
“I hope the woman recovers and she is well”
Sher Khan, the Labour councillor for Little Horton who lives in the area, said he believed that the occupants of the house had moved in about a year ago. He said:
“I can’t recall anything like this, believe me people are shocked … I hope the woman recovers and she is well”.
Det Ch Insp Jon Morgan said that police had been called by paramedics at around 09:15 GMT on Tuesday and the pair were immediately taken to hospital.
